I'm a game designer and a programmer, and I've always done both. Right now my work is porting: bringing VR games to PlayStation 5 and PlayStation VR2.
Floor 10 Cleared
Hi, I'm Vinicius. I'm a game designer and a programmer, and I've never managed to separate the two: I like sketching a mechanic on paper and then being the one who writes the code that makes it work.
I spent two years at Ocarina Studios leading a five-person team and tuning mobile games with Firebase data in hand. One of them reached 40% D1 retention. Now I'm at VRMonkey coding VR ports for PS5 and PlayStation VR2, which is a very different job: here the challenge is understanding code I didn't write and making it run on other hardware.
On the side I'm doing a postgrad in neuroscience and decision-making. It may sound unrelated, but to me it's the same subject: understanding why a player does what they do. In practice my process is blunt: prototype in days, playtest early, read the data, cut whatever doesn't earn its place.
My academic path combines technical expertise in game development with advanced studies in leadership and cognitive science.
Technologist Degree in Digital Games. Developed "Memories of a Scattered Mind".
Specialization in leadership, innovation, and emerging tech (VR/AR, AI) for games.
Study of cognitive processes and decision-making to enhance interactive experiences.
Rebuilding a VR title's interaction layer for PlayStation VR2 Sense controllers, holding the console frame budget, and taking the build through platform certification.
A second unannounced title on the same PS5 / PlayStation VR2 pipeline: a different game, and a chance to apply what the first port taught about console constraints.
A dream world rebuilt one right answer at a time. Trivia wrapped in branching adventure progression, tuned on Firebase data to a 40% D1 retention peak.
Inherit a restaurant outside of time. A cozy sim built on Match-3 and Merge. I led design and development, including a mid-production pivot away from trivia.
A Vietnam veteran's house won't stay the way he left it. Narrative horror built on dread instead of jump scares. It was my first 3D project and my graduation title.
The classic, rebuilt from scratch to get deterministic 2D physics and zero-latency input exactly right.
A horde shooter used as a lab for object pooling and AI state machines in Unity and C#.
